Hi, I need advice please, I have been looking on familysearch.org and have come across Mary Anne Beglin born 1875, Meath, Ireland Bridget Clarke - mother John Beglin - father. Basically on my grt aunts birth cert her mother is Mary Anne Graham formerly Beglin. That is all the info we have, a few scraps of paper were found with the names John and Bridget and the place names Meath and Garadice scribbled on them. Would you say this enough or just coincidence or even just plain old wishful thinking. Please let me know what you think. Thanks Sophie x |

Is the record 'submitted' or 'extracted'? If it's submitted, it could be that the person who submitted it is related to you and having the same problems tracking her. The info may or may not be accurate. If it's extracted, it's taken from actual registers, so therefore is (more than likely) true. |

I haven't looked at Family Search, but the entry looks like a transcript from the Civil reg in Ireland, which is why it's a birth and why the parents look as if they are not married, as they quote the maiden name on the transcript. If the entry is one of those (check the notes on the page) then it should be pretty accurate. The only thing is, do you know if it's right for date? The civil records were transcribed and used by the LDS up to a specific year. I used to know what year it was but cannot remember now!! I think it is only a short number of years after the date of this entry, so if your rellie was possibly born later (and this birth is someone else), her birth might not show up. Sarah |

Hi Sarah, I don't know her date of birth but it had been guessed at around 1875. There is a Fanney Beglin born in 1878 to a Bridget Clarke Beglin and John Beglin, so I take it that they were not married when they had Mary Anne. Mary Anne is not named as a sibling on the birth record for Fanney, What does this mean? Other than that I don't know what I am looking at. Thanks Sophie |

Ahh, sorry Sophie. It doesn't say if it's extracted or not on the first entry. If you look on the second one, it has this... Mary Anne Beglin Female -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Event(s): Birth: 20 MAR 1875 , , Ireland Christening: Death: Burial: -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Parents: Father: John Beglin Family Mother: Bridget Clarke -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Messages: Extracted birth or christening record for the locality listed in the record. The source records are usually arranged chronologically by the birth or christening date. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Source Information: Batch No.: Dates: Source Call No.: Type: Printout Call No.: Type: C701583 1875 0255922 Film NONE Where it says 'messages' is where you know it came from records in Ireland. About the siblings - they only show up when submitted by an LDS member. Most of the time, you can find siblings by entering the Batch No (the one starting with a C) and the parents names. This brings up all records in that batch within those criteria. Sometimes (like in my family) it shows multiple generations, but if you know when one was born, you can usually work out who belongs where. However... Mary and Fanney come under different batches. I assume this is because they were born in different (slightly) areas. |
