I recently got family tree maker 2005. I am having problems. I have a member of the family who had a child with the mother of one of my relatives, however they were never married. I want to add him in but whenever I do, he comes up as a husband. I want him in as a partner, but not a husband. I have looked thru the instructions but am unable to work out how to solve this problem. Please can somebody help me. Thanks Gayle

This must be peculiar to FTM2005, you used to be able to specify partner or etc but that facility seems to have gone missing. I'll see what I can find and come back. Keith

OK Gayle. Get the entry with the 2 relevant people on the screen. Click on People on tool bar. Go down to Edit Image and click. Go to Kind of relationship, bottom left and click on down arrow. Select partners and click. BINGO. Regards Keith

Keith, Thank you for your solution to this problem on FTM. Just bought FTM2005 and found that entering a women who had 5 children by 4 different men, one with an unnamed father, was a problem as I did not want to enter the men as husbands. Maureen
