ok, having NOT found my william pratt (sailor) from sierra leone,(age 12-14 when arrived)(BS) and not found him on any ship crew lists, and KNOWING that ships from Sierra leone only came through Bristol Liverpool and London, in 1850's should I now be checking censuses for Bristol and London? no trace in Liverpool althought there was a marriage, no trace in wales apart from a mistranscribed ( william preatt) hopefull!! but have to rule out what county is Bristol anyway?

In 1841, it comes under Gloucestershire in the censuses. Do you want me to check that for you?

There's a 1yr old and a 6yr old. 1yr old is with a 30yr old Mary. Both born in County. 6yr old is son of Robert and Miriam. All born in County. Doesn't look like your boy is there in 1841.
