Please can anyone help to find Charlotte Alice JONES, b. 1846 Southampton (St Marys)... and married there in 1865?

Charlotte was the daughter of George, a labourer or general dealer b. 1813, Southampton and Emily( nee POWELL) b. abt 1818 in Durley, Hants. Charlotte's siblings born in Southampton were George, ...Eliza Maria...Mary Ann...James... and Janet.. all born between abt 1839 and 1850. I've looked on Ancestry but cant see her or any of the family and wondered if anyone else could.

Thank you Christine I will make a note of this. It's been really difficult finding out much about this family.... even worse than my JONES in South Wales, on Mum's side of the family. Perhaps I can find out more about Emily from her death certificate. I appreciate your help. Charlotte was my great grandmother, but where was she??

There's a record of a Janet Jones' death in Southampton in 1850. Still looking for elusive Charlotte. Have you got Jones on both sides of your family - poor you! At least i only have Jones and Griffiths on my father's side.

have you actually found the marriage? Does she, in later census, always give her birth place as Southampton? Jess

Thank you for persevering with this. Yes, I have JONES on both sides but I am making good headway with the other side ones, who moved from Herefordshire to Wales. I have Charlotte's birth certificate and have found her in each later census, ( always born in Southampton). I have record of Charlotte's marriage in St Mary's Church, Southampton. George and Emily had a Janet baptised at that church in August 1848 and another Janet baptised in April 1850... (Naming her after a recently deceased sister??)

Still looking for Charlotte! I think I may have to look at each and every Charlotte born around that time. Last night I found a Maria in this way, - different branch. She was sharing a house and although her surname was quite clear to see, she had been indexed under the head of house's completely different surname.

ONE LAST TRY. She must be somewhere as she married twice after this. She is most likely to be in Southampton but between 1876 and 1881 she moved to Portsmouth. I have no reason to think she lived anywhere else but who knows? Anything is possible.
