Depends on when and where from. There are some records at Kew, info on the online research leaflet here: www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/familyhistory/migration/step2.htm

If she was in Eng/Wales by March 1901, then she should be on the 1901 census. Do you know if she came with other family, or by herself? Sarah

Hi Sarah, I have no clue what so ever who she came with, All I know is that she had my grandfather in 1904 in Fulham, so was deffinately here by then. She may be on the 1901 census. Her name i believed was Marion and she was a gouverness. On 1901 census there is a Marian who is a Teachers Assistant also from Ireland, so that may well be her, but it's nothing concrete. Unfortunatley I don't know only wish I did. Thanks sophie

Your grandfather's birth cert should have her full name on it, including her maiden name. You can check this on the 1901 census info and see if the addresses on the cert/census are nearby. You might find some helpful leads on this Nat. Archives leaflet about Irish migrants to England. www.movinghere.org.uk/galleries/histories/irish/irish.htm nell

Thanks Nell, She wasn't married when she had my grandfather, So no other names to go by and the areas weren't close my granfather was born in Fulham and on the 1901 Cencus Marian Murphy was living in Leicester. She may have been running away... I think it's wishful thinking that it is the same person. I will checkout that site though, thanks again sophie
