Hello, I am very new to this and being in Australia i am not getting much help from local library as they don't carry any english info. wondering how i find someone on a census......I have tried on freebmd cencus page but keeps coming up with nothing. I have the name of my g.g.grandfather: Robert Lowe Kenton,(he was a brass founder) was married to Matilda Kenton( formerly Sheath) and i know my g.granfather William was born 6th july 1877. Their address is Terrace, Green Lane, Aston. or Green Lane Terrace, Aston depending on which way you read it. Any ideas where to start would be very helpful. Thanks Sarah

I use Ancestry. It has all those censuses. The Kentons were transcribed wrongly in 1881, which doesn't help. But with the address you had, I was able to find them. It's easier when you know where to start :) 1881 is the only free to search census, so it's a good starting point. You can do that on ancestry, and search by address there too for 1881. The LDS site doesn't search by address so it's a bit more difficult when they're like this. If you want to search the other censuses, you need to subscribe to Ancestry.

Sarah It's worth mentioning - after Tracy's brilliant job - that you can actually see (and print/save) the images of the census pages on Ancestry, which you can't on other sites - apart from the 1901 census site (which, of course, has only the 1901 census on it and is pay-per-view rather than a 3-month or annual sub). It was the opportunity to get all those images which hooked me! Christine
