My gggrandfather seems to have various names. In the 61 and 71 census he's Watson Vince born abt 1826 in Marylebone,Middx. I've found a birth on IGI for an Edmeades Watson John Vince. Can't find him in 81 but found a death on ancestry for an Edmead Vince in 1881 right area. On his daughters birth cert. he's John Vince. I never heard the name Edmead,do you think it should be Edmund? And also do you think these are all the same person. Thanks for any ideas. Carole

If Edmeades can exist as a surname (which it does), I see no reason why it cannot be a forename. Unusual, but certainly possible.

A search on Ancesty for Edme* brings up lots of similar names, Edme, Edment, Edmee, Edmend, Edmeade, Edmed. I guess some may be mistranscriptions but not all of them.
