can someone take a look at census for pwllheli parish of aberech, page 4 RG12/4650 I am looking at Sarah Pratt, but am undecided on who she is living with ,(she is down as daughter) is she living 'only with her Cousin' Ann Brown, or is she part of the family which looks like next door? The Jones if she is living with her cousin, Why is she down as daughter? am a bit confused!! thankyou

I took a look......I wonder if someone has been missed out of their household (the head)?? Sarah could be to do with next door, but if she was Mr Jone's step-dau, his wife would be quite old when she was born....I think that's less likely, but anything is possible!! It's a quandary! Sarah

I think the head of household was probably away for the night, either Sarah's father or her mother, so is not listed on the census. Ann Brown could be the cousin of the head of household rather than Sarah's cousin, too, though the term 'cousin' could have been used loosely anyway. Are you sure the mother was living with another family rather than just visiting? If she is Mary Pratt, it gives 'relationship to head of household' as 'Nurse', so it doesn't really help there! Incidentally, I had quite a bit of trouble finding where to look, firstly because you didn't say it was 1891 so I had to find out which year RG12 was (should know them off by heart by now, I know, but I don't) and secondly because she is transcribed on ancestry as 'Sarah Jones' because they have taken the surname of the previous head of household as hers. Kate.
