a question for the brainiacs out there, could you help me please I am trying to find all the residents names of an address in 1911. I know for certain my family back to my gt grandfather and he was living at this address aged 19 with his parents. so this information would give me a definate link to where I;ve picked up on who I think is my gt grandfarther in the 1901 census. hope I have'nt made you as confused as I am.thanks in advance. mark

Have you tried directories for the area?- will list head of household at worst What happened that was significant in 1911?

Apart from what Jess has suggested, I think you are going to have a problem with this - not even a PO directory is going to list ALL the residents of a particular address and I cannot offhand think of any source that would - apart from the 1911 census! (ooh, just a thought - a Will might, if you are very lucky) Old Crone

I think you will definately have to wait until 2012 (or whenever the 1911 is being released). The electoral registers will only show people of voting age, the trade directories surely won't list children. There are lots of my family that I would LOVE to find in 1911 - to see if they married, had anymore children etc etc. At the end of the day, I have had to accept the fact that I won't know for sure until 2012. It hasn't stopped me researching further back though, it would just be nice if I had the info! Sam x

Do you have your ggf's birth cert (c1892 if my maths is right!)? If not then you should certainly get this, as it will give the address where he was born and/or where his parents were living at the time. Not only that but it will confirm his parents names and you should therefore be able to confirm the 1901 census entry as well as locate the parents in 1891 and beyond. It's much easier working back from 1901 than it is going forwards into the 20thC, mainly because of the availability of the earlier censuses!
