Be careful before you format, you cannot save programs once they have been installed and are written to the registry, only the data for those programs can be saved. Make sure you have all your program CD disks or download links. Also save all your e-mails to disk. Regards Ron www.genealogyprinters(.)com

As long as you have saved all your programs/documents elsewhere, you can re-format the hard disk and then re-install Windows to fully ensure everything is gone.

Linda I think if you re-install windows 98 it should automatically delete everything for you, first save everything you want to keep on a floppy or cd,(eg programmes/photos etc) then add them again when you have reinstalled.

I want to give my old computer (windows 98) to my grandson. How do I ensure I have deleted everything? Thanks Linda
