Hi, Does anybody know if at the beginning of the 20th century you had to register the change of a name? and if so where would we find this? For example, My grandad was born Patrick Murphy but when he was married he was Patrick Graham. Thanks Sophie |

Anyone can change their name as often as they wish, you just have to make known your intention doesn't have to be registered anywhere |

Thanks, He never knew that he was Murphy until he asked his mum for Birth Cert so that he could get married or join the army, not sure which, so I have no clue when it may have been changed, I think I will leave it for anotrher day. Thanks again. Sophie x |
