Included in the book is the Griffiths Valuation of 1856 with corresponding 1850 Map. This lists the head tenants of each household. The complete 1901 & 1911 Census for the Town, which lists everybody who was living in the town in those years. 1894 Slater's Commercial Directory. The 1936/37 Electors Register which lists everybody who lived in the town in 1936 that was over the age of 18. A Brief history of Mullingar Town, and what was going on around Westmeath at the time. A Townland Map Several Old Photos of Mullingar' Shop Price: €13.00 (price+post=Euro14.00, £10.50sterling, $20.00 USdollars Other towns it cover's are Arklow Ballina, Ballinasloe, Ballyshannon, Ballybofey, Birr, Carlow, Cavan, CarrickonSuir, CarrickonShannon, Donegal, Dungarvan, Enniscorthy, Killarney, Kinsale, Letterkenny, Longford, Monaghan, Mullingar, Navan New Ross, Newcastle West/ Rathkeale, Roscommon, Stranorlar, Tuam, Tullamore, Youghal, Is there a different law in Ireland concerning the release of the 1911 census? When you explore the site there are lots of other books also. As there is not much on the web for the Irish this is possibly worth its weight in gold. This may help someone. Victor |

Victor Thanks, I had a look at this as some as my ancestors originate from Roscommon. (The dot com bit is missing from the addy). Unfortunately, all the info is too late for them as they came to England around 1840! Not sure whether to buy the book anyway though as I may find connections. Lynne |

Has anyone sent for one of these books???? I'm very interested in the Killarney one, especially if they have the census records (wonder if they are complete or just head of household stuff?) Don't want to part with hard earned cash if they are not up to scratch. Sylvia |
