I wonder if anyone else has experienced this? I have recently signed up to Ancestry & having found my great grandmother on the 1901Census web site thought I could view more information by looking at the 1901 on Ancestry. For some reason she is not there, although others with the same name are. I know the one on 1901 website is the correct one because all the details are correct. Am I being naive in expecting Ancestry to have all the census information? Pat |

Pat... This happens all the time as the 1901 census on Ancestry and the Gov. site were transcribed seperatly ( They are not the same version of the census )...........if you know what I mean.! If you have found someone on the Gov site it should be possible to find them on Ancestry using a first name search and the other details ..........you will then probably find the surname is mis-transcribed. Hope this helps Esta if you put the details you have from the gov site I can see if I can find her on ancestry for you If i'll help :) |

If you have the RG number, folio and page numbers, you can search for the entry on Ancestry with those numbers. |

We found a problem just week wit my wife's grandmother. Her name is Norah, and you can find her ok on the 1901 site. Ancestry have her indexed as 'Beaval' would you believe. The handwriting on the census page is not brilliant, but not that bad...! |

Thank you all for your suggestions. I will try Carol's suggestion with the numbers as it seems crazy to pay twice. Its reassuring to know that its not just my families being picked on for misinformation. Pat |

Bingo! Ann Pitt correctly on 1901, Ann Pill on Ancestry. |
