Thomas Guidrey and Margaret McCarthy married 1881 in Bristol. I have a possible death for Thomas in 1903 aged 42 but I have not found a birth for him yet, but I have him on the 1881 census with his wife and her mother living in Clifton, Bristol. On the IGI I have found the following Margaret Guidrey OR McCarthy Birth: , , Ireland Parents: Patrick and Margaret Lewis Marriages: Patrick Hartigan 08 FEB 1900 Manhattan, New York, Source Information: Batch No M005408 Questions are: did Thomas die earlier than 1903 or did Margaret leg it to New York and bigimously marry Patrick Hartigan. I know from census information that Margaret was born in Ireland about 1861. Is there any way of getting a copy of this marriage certificate from New York As Guidery is not a common name, Margarets maiden name is McCarthy, and both names appear on the same record in the IGI, is it too much information to be a coincidence?

Carol Here is the birth. Name: Guidrey, Thomas Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1883 District: Barton Regis County: Gloucestershire Volume: 6a Page: 51 And the death. Name: Guidrey, Thomas Record Type: Deaths Age at death: 42 Quarter: June Year: 1903 District: Bristol County: Avon Gloucestershire Volume: 6a Page: 38 I agree that there are too many links for it not to be the same Margaret. As to if she did mary in the States, well, that is a good one. There is the posibility that they could have divirced before this marriage. Victor.

Have you located Thomas and Margaret on the 1891 or 1901 census? What about looking for her arrival in the USA, is she on a passenger list? ie Ellis Island? I think it is highly unlikely that they were divorced. Maybe the dates for the US wedding are wrong? Or the death for Thomas is not the correct one? Did they have any children that you are aware of? Carole The info you have found on the IGI looks suspiciously like 'Submitted information' to me, as there is no date nor place of marriage. You should therefore take it with a big pinch of salt. I have found these submitted records to be somewhat less than accurate to put it politely. On the other hand, you may have discovered a family scandal.... Old Crone

But does this answer the question. He Is the only Thomas Guidrey in the whole census for the country, and does not show on any other earlier census under that name. Victor
