I had to delete permission to view from every single contact i have had in the last 13 months!.. I don't like having to uncheck box either as it is easy to miss it before you contact someone.

Gill, I have been using the site for a couple of years now and have never come across the situation you describe. What exactly do you think has changed in terms of permissions? Which screen are you looking at and what are the messages/tabs you are seeing? If you can provide a bit more information we should be able to help.

I do all this unticking when I send a reply but the permissions still keep changing and some that I haven't contacted for quite a while had, until earlier this afternoon, changed preference. Gill

We succeeded in getting the default changed to unticked a while ago - and then they did an 'improvement' and reinstated the old open-house default. I still think that letting others see your tree should be a positive decision, not an accident of not-noticing. Christine

Gillian, Did you notice that a few months ago Genes changed the default so that when you send an e-mail regarding a possible link the box to let them view your tree is ticked automatically. If you do not wish them to see your tree you have to physically untick it every time. I personally think this is a bad thing and have suggested to them that they change the default setting so that you have to tick it when you wish to share. I have not heard back from them. Perhaps if other people think the same way, they should also contact them with the suggestion. Perhaps this is your problem ?? Regards, Dea.

Just checked my contacts, only the people I wish to see my tree are ticked. I would have another look if I were you and adjust as necessary. regards Ros

Is it just me or does this occur to others? It seems that everytime my back is turned a large proportion of my contacts are given permission to view my tree!! I have just gone through them again to adjust. Gill
