Does anyone know which area the Registration District of Surrey South-Western covers? If so how could I find out which church a person who died in that district may have been buried. Or which churches are in that area. Thanks. Regards Gail.

Hi Gail Here you go Location Surrey South-Western Address Artington House Portsmouth Road Guildford Surrey GU2 5DZ Tel +44 (0)1483 562841 Registration and Census District (1852 - 1946) 2a. There is also the West Surrey Family History Society which has a map of the parishes it covers: http://www.wsfhs.org/ Hope that helps Vikki xx

Prepare yourself for a huge number of possible burial/cremation venues across a whole registration district! Sarah

Wow! Thanks Vikki and Sarah for the speedy reply and advise, would Guildford be in that district? Gail.

Ooohh it's far too ''modern'' a district for us poor old family historians (I hadn't even heard of it until I saw your message!!) I should give them a ring and ask unless some clever **** responds to this thread. If you think the burial/cremation was in Guildford you might be better off trying the local council who would keep records for the local Cemeteries (unless you have a reason to think the person would have had a church burial.) You will need the date of death though! Good Luck Update - Oh, I see Vikki is a clever **** lol !! Sarah
