Bj ancestry is the best value site you can subscribe to and really costs just about a quid a week for 24/7 usage. A bargain.

The 1901 census is also available at http://www.1901census.nationalarchives.gov.uk/ for a minimum charge of £5. It's 75p to look at each scanned image of the census page. Both are separately indexed, so if you cannot find someone on one site, try searching on the other.

Ancestry has 1901, 1891, 1881, 1871 and 1861 censuses, as well as other useful info, BUT you have to pay. you can either take a subscription (there's another thread on this message board which says there's 20% off until 15 Sept) subs can be quarterly or annual. Alternatively, you can pay about £6 for 20 views. To get on to it, here's the addy: www*ancestry*co*uk/ replace * with . nell
