hi all. if any of you get the Sunday Mail you might have seen the article where a woman was searching the net looking for a decent contractor/builder when she accidentally came across a web site (name unknown to me) which contained the names, addresses, telphone numbers, together with all the particulars of their credit cards, so much info that it would leave them open to all sorts of mischief. According to the article the web site has been open since 2002 and from what the article says the Financial Services knew about it. Makes you think doesnt it? how safe is it to pay by card over the net. TED. |

1) we don't know if the article is factual or not 2) if this site had been open with access to everyone's credit card details for about 3 years, I am surprised no-one noticed. 3) we don't know what if anything is being done about it 4) always ensure there is a padlock symbol on the screen when you pay online 5) I'm more worried about paying over the phone - you never know who might be listening in! nell |
