I got a tad mixed up with my copy and past - it was ever this. I am looking for an Elizabeth/Eliza RICHARDS. In the 1881 census she gives her age as 39, born Lambeth. Her marital name is COLLINS Her father’s name on the marriage certificate in 1878 is given as James RICHARDS. Her status is given as SPINSTER. On the 1881 census she had 3 children – Jane Richards – age 16, ca 1865 – born Westminster, Surrey Walter Richards – age 12, ca 1869 – born Lambeth, Surrey Edward Richards – age 9, 1872 – born Blackfriars, Surrey On both Jane and Walter’s marriage certs. their father’s name is given as Walter John RICHARDS (the same as Elizabeth’s father surname – co-incidence?) (dec’d) My problem is that Elizabeth may indeed have been married to a Walter Richards – Equally she may not have been and Richards was her maiden name. What is certain is that on the 1871 she would have had at least Jane and Walter if not Edward. She may well have had other children about whom I know nothing In the 1861 – gawd knows who she is shown as living with. In both censuses she would have been living in either Lambeth, Blackfriars, Westminster, or possibly Rotherhithe, Bermondsey, St.Olaves, Southwark. Anybody up for a challenge? Rita
