I couldn't see any thread that covers the above so I thought I would start one (If there is one then let me know, and perhaps we can bump the old thread up and delete this one) This thread is for adding any website that you know of that helps with the research of our Scottish Ancestors. Here's a couple for starters: www(.)scotlandspeople(.)gov(.)uk www(.)scotsman(.)com www(.)genwed(.)com/UK/scotland(.)htm www(.)nls(.)uk/broadsides/ freecen(.)rootsweb(.)com/ www(.)familysearch(.)org remove the brackets from the above. |

A friend and I have set up a free site to host the info we've accumulated over the years about mining areas of Fife and Lanarkshire where our ancestors lived. The site is www(.)mining-villages(.)co(.)uk We also have a list of mining deaths in Scotland from 1852 to 1880. Hope this is of use to others! |

FreeCen, although it is still in it's infancy, has quite a few scottish places transcribed. Definitely worth looking at - you might be lucky. I found my 3 x great grandparents in 1841. (Whoopee) http://freecen.rootsweb(.)com/cgi/search.pl (Remove brackets as usual) |

Someone might find this an interesting one www[.]dwalker[.]pwp[.]blueyonder[.]co[.]uk/default[.]htm or you could try it without putting in the default[.]htm to view another part, but I can't seem to get the 1st one from this one. Josie |
