Iz My Kilpatrick ancestors emigrated from Scotland and settled in Stephen Twp. I found lots of helpful information from people that replied to my postings on the Rootsweb and Genforum boards. Try http://genforum.genealogy(.)com/canada/ontario/ or http://boards.ancestry(.)com/mbexec?htx=board&r=rw&p=localities.northam.canada.ontario.huron There are several others about Canada or try the Macdonald board. Also lots of information on Ontario Virtual Reference Library site http://www.virtualreferencelibrary.ca/ Library and Archives Canada also has lots of interesting info. http://www(.)collectionscanada.ca/index-e.html Hope these help - don't forget to remove the brackets! Good luck Sue xx |

The Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid is a wonderful site, but it is not complete. Most of my ancestors arrived in Canada around the 1840's-1850's and I've only found 4 people listed on the OCFA. Very good site to check, but not complete. Library and Archives Canada has 1871 census index, so you can at least check to see if they are included. They also have Soldiers of the First World War, which may help, eventually: http://www(.)collectionscanada.ca/archivianet/0201_e.html remove ( ) Canada telephone information: http://www(.)canada411.ca/ Marriages in Ontario, 1800-1924: http://homepages.rootsweb(.)com/~maryc/thisisit.htm InGeneas site. There is a fee to order records, but I check it to see if I can find any and if so, I try to search the internet for free records, then order them from InGeneas if I have to. http://www.ingeneas(.)com/free/index.html Hope this helps. Best of luck. |

Thanks Carol, I had a look for deaths before, but can't remember where! I am wondering if they may have moved to another area. Will now check out those sites thanks. Iz x |

Can anyone help me with information on how to trace decscendants of 2 MacDonald families who emigrated there in 1840's from Scotland? They were my Grt Gandfather's twin brothers so I hope that there may be living relatives around! Anything, however small will be greatly appreciated thanks Iz x |
