If you know that they are likely to have married in a particular parish, at a certain time, the information in the parish records should be exactly the same as on a certificate. ... You can sometimes get a printout from the microfiche, very cheaply. |

No, it says: We now offer the facility to order certificates online, this can be used to place orders using the GRO index reference and for certificates dating from 1900 up to 18 months before the present date where the exact details are known. See Ways to apply for a range of other options. That would mean you can order pre-1900 certs with just the GRO index (year, quarter, name, district, volume and page number), and 1900 onwards you need the exact details. I have ordered post-1900 certs with just the GRO index details in the past with no problems, but don't know if it has changed or if that bit of the website is just wrong. Kate. |

I have the ref number and it was in 1879, so i should still be able to find them there before i go to parish records. thanks for your help |

Can i still order wedding certs predating 1900? on the GRO website it says only certs from 1900 onwards can be ordered, if not where do i go to get them? |
