I lived next to Stewarts Road SW8 and delivered post in that st.in 1964 to 1977 and it was mostly 2 estates of flats and a few houses and several industrial premises 3 pubs but i am not aware of any Army type premises or residential homes. Stewarts Rd is still much the same to-day except for the industrial sites. Try contacting Wandsworth Council as a large part of the road was in there borough

Crista, found it thanks very much. Didnt know about that web site, but I do l now. its not more than a couple of hundred yards from the Dogs home, and the same from the NEW COVENT GARDEN MARKET. she lived in BROOMHOUSE ROAD, HAMMERSMITH, until ERNEST her husband, and my uncle died in 1967, then this new address came up on her death cert when she died in 1977. That area is right opposite Battersea Dogs Home. Type SW8 4UU into www.multimap.*com That's the postcode for the house. Remove the * Crista

SW8 would be Brixton I think Ted. Have you tried googling for this place? If not, you could email Lambeth council? I wouldnt have thought that it was army accommodation in that area though, more likely retirement properties?

Hi again. This is a follow up to my previous post. My uncle ERNIE BLUNDELLs wife ALICIA GRACE BLUNDELL died in 1977 and her address on the death certificate is STEWARTS LODGE, 201 STEWARTS ROAD, LAMBETH S W 8. is there anyone here who lives in that area and can tell me what the address is, whether its Army accommodation or whatever? ERNIE reached the rank of Warrant Officer 1 and was a weapons instructor in the GUARDS TRAINING BN and at the GUARDS DEPOT in CATERHAM until his discharge in 1958, and as he died in 1969, I was wondering if he lived in retired army accommodation? Any help willl be greatly appreciated. TED. THANKS VERY MUCH.
