could anyone please help me find gg grandfather Elliss Stephens born c1851 - Gruton Or Greeton, Warwickshire, England i have found him on the 1881 census at Broom Lane, Bidford, Warwickshire, England i cannot find a birth ,death,marriage or him on any other census his wife on the 1881 census is Georgina born c1853 Hodonor, Warwickshire, England thanks Dawn

In 1891 he is a widower, aged 40 living in the same village with son Charles, 11. In 1901 he is living alone in the same village. These two censuses say he was born in Gloucestershire, not Warwickshire sao maybe you need to look there for his birth (although I've had a quick look and can't see it.) Sam x

Dawn, In 1881 he is living with a son called Sidney Charles Stephens, born 1880. That would make him the correct age so perhaps he was known as Charles rather than Sidney? Sam x

Thanks sam i have him on the 1881 with a son called Sidney so it seems he was calling himself charles and not sidney this has been giving me a head ache Thanks Dawn
