Ive mentioned this quite a bit before so people are probably sick of hearing about it! My Nan was born in a workhouse in Willesden and was then sent to live with an aunt in Kent. her mother was called Anna Osborne and apart from that we have no idea about who she is other than the woman/girl who gave birth to my nan. Because my nan was sent to Kent we believe Anna also came from kent. On my nans birth cert there is no father listed, but on her wedding cert there is a Alfred Osborne who we believe was her uncle. On looking in the 1901 census i have found an Alfred with a sister Annie, but i have no way to prove this is them. My mum thought her nan was called Ruth so im thinking this could be Alfreds Wife, but again we have no way to back this up. My mum has phone the LMA, Brent Council and the Middlesex hospital which the Workhouse has now become, and noone seems to have kept any patient records for the workhouse. Do i now give up and attempt it again when the 1911 census comes out? |

What was the name of the woman that raised her, the 'Aunt' - who may not have been an aunt at all |

What was the Aunts surname? (are you asuming she was Annas sister, although married, because if so she wouldn't be an osbourne) |
