I am sooo sorry to have confused you by saying that Ruth Langham's father was George Blewitt when I meant Alfred Langham I am really confused by this lot as William Henry Blewitt is down as 25 Widower, when I looked up his previous marriage he was married to Ruth's sister Ellen first. she died in 1900. Then to make matters more completed....... my Gran who was George Blewitt's daughter married Alfred Langham son Charles, my Grandad.. I have got Blewitt's and Langhams 'coming together' all over the place. Many thanks for all your help. Linda |

have you seen this, Linda? I think we've found her for you. I'm confused over the father's name on the marriage certificate. If she really was a Blewitt, and recognised George as her father over Alfred, then Alfred was very decent to register her under his name in the first place. Alfred seems to have died in 1895. Deaths Sep 1895 --------------------------- Langham Alfred 40 Wandsworth 1d 365 Ruth/Emily seems to have married William Henry Blewitt - so surely it's a mistake on the marriage cert when it says her father is George Blewitt, is this William's father also? Could the fathers' names be copied out the wrong way round on the marriage cert? I have a marriage cert for one of my rellies where this has been done, so the bride's father is written where the groom's father should be and vice versa. By the way, if she was 23 in 1903, she would have been born in 1879 or 1880, not 1878. Kate. |

Could you check the marriage cert again, please? Didn't she marry William henry Blewitt? In which case george is her father-in-law. |

Was she definitely a spinster on the marriage certificate? Was the father alive/deceased? Chloe |

Does the marriage cert. give her father's name? I tried looking on familysearch for her in 1881 incase it gave a different place of birth... Not seen her. Are there any other LANGHAM witnesses to help us locate her? |

Can anyone help me find the birth of Ruth Emily Langham? I have her on 1901 census born 1880 in Battersea, London, and living there. I also have her marriage certificate for 1903 which says she is 23 which makes her date on birth 1878 but I still can't find her. Any help appreciated. Thanks Linda |
