Dorothy, as an aside my grandfather was called Leo. His proper name was LEOPOLD. This might help in a search, best wishes, Joan |

Thanks for the help everyone, I think that the info that my mum had on him was wrong. I'll have to start looking in other areas. Thanks again |

There are 390 Pearson names listed on the CWGC site but none with the first (or second) name of Leo. These of course include all armed forces and civilian deaths as well as RN, MN and Marines. If you had an approximate year of death or any other name by which he might have been known it would help your search. There were only a couple with the second name of Leonard, is it possible that Leo was an abbreviation? Sorry not to be more helpful Kathleen |

You queried this death a little while ago, I looked on 1837 under all the variants but couldn't find anything. This may save you a fruitless search. Regards. Keith |

If you use 1837online and go to the overseas section - type in Deaths, 1939 to 1945, and surname Pearson, you will get 21 pages of records to search (max cost £2.10). Some of these will obviously not be appropriate (such as Army and RAF deaths etc) but one of the rest might give the info you need. At least his name is quite unusual lol Good Luck UPDATE: but see Keith's reply further down.... Sarah |

I am trying to find out about my grandad, Leo Pearson. As far as my mum was told he died during the 2nd war and was in the navy but I can't find anything on him there. Someone suggested to me that he may have been in the merchant navy. Any tips would be very welcome. |
