If you haven't already looked, you might find some more info about him on http://www.gazettes-online.co.uk The search function is pretty good, and you get pdf copies of the relevant page(s). With a more common name, you may find yourself wading through other notices of less relevance, though. Christine |

I have been trying to find my grandmas cousin Tom Taylor. I know he was in the Cameronian Scottish Rifles in the 1st world war. He was an officer in about 1935, as he visited my mam and and sisters and grandma, and had his bat man with him. I have found records of a Tom Taylor in the Cameronians and it looks like he started off in the ranks and rose up to become an officer. He also looks like he received the Military Medal in 1916 whilst he was a sergeant. I have a possible photo of him in 1940 when he was Capt(QM) T C Taylor MM, and I have been told he was also awarded an OBE, but I can't remember who told me!. I was also told that when they came back from France they were billeted near Liverpool where he received his discharge, and he took over a civilian post. His father was called William Taylor and I have not been able to find him either. (My Grandmas father and Williams brother was called John Taylor and was born 21.7.1869 Their mother and father were Thomas Taylor and Alice Sanderson and they were married in 1863. (I have the reference for the marriage and will be sending for the certificate soon). Any one with divine inspiration out there ? This has been driving me mad for at least 2 years. Thanks Ann |
