Hi, if you add your reply in the forum, it will then register at the top of the forum in the poll. I am a volunteer transcriber and along with others would help out on this project rather than have it sent to India, goodness knows what the transcribing will be like as English is not their first language. |

The civil records that are being transcribed by FreeBMD, also on Ancestry, have volunteer transcribers all over the world. They are not just in Britain. |

I think it would be a good idea for this to ALSO be on the records board. Ann :) |

If you care about our GRO records read on: 'For a some time now, the transcription/digitisation of our country's records (including census data) has been done in developing countries where the workforce is cheaper. Now the GRO is planning to have its transcribing of civil BMD records done in India as well. Do Your Family Tree readers agree with this move, or should all transcribing be done here in Britain. Have your say in our online poll.' Copy and paste the link below into your browser to vote.! http://forum.yourfamilytreemag.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=883#883 You can also read about this on the BBC website: http://news.bbc(.)co(.)uk/1/hi/uk/4121840(.)stm |
