hi could anyone tell me if i can only access church records by going to the church or are they on line anywhere.i want to see if aperson has been buried in the church graveyard as the town cemetery has no record of a buriel or cremation. the year is 1955 i keep phoning the church but no answer love linda x

www.ukbmd.org.(uk) Type in the county on the home page Linda+ you get links to all sorts, including Parish Records etc. I would book mark this page, it may be useful for you in the future. Regards Ann

Church records - parish registers - are held in the relevant county Record Office. If you know the approximate date of burial (usually within two weeks of death) then the church might be willing to flick through any copies they have and may even be able to give you a plot number. Some won't. Try writing to whoever is in charge of the church.
