does anyone where I can find the BMD listing for the bristol area, I've looked on ukbmd but my geography is not very good as to where it would be held any help would be appreciated

Hi Sarah, What do you mean by 'the BMD listing for the Bristol area'? There isn't a list for each area as such. Have you tried www.freebmd.org.uk, this is good upto about 1910 but it isn't complete. Some - but not all - counties have their own BMD sites, like www.staffordshire.org.uk but again, these are by no means complete. The only sites that are complete from 1837-2002 are the pay to view ones, like www.1837online(.)com. these have the listings for the whole country and you can't search by name as such, you need to know the year that the event took place. As far as I know, Bristol comes under Gloucestershire. Sam x

Hi sarah i have a thread which list all free bmd site, its got quite a bit on, not sure if its got what your after, as i cant remember all of the sites ive put on. Will nudge it up :-)

Sarah, Try UKBMD you can type this into google or find it under: http//:www(.)ukbmd(.)org(.)uk/index(.)php remove the brackets. I am not sure if Bristol is listed, however, Bath and districts are. Hope this helps. Elizabeth Update: Just looked at the County of Gloucestershire, maybe something on there to help you.
