In what area would she have married Do you have the births of any children, as they may be on the IGI. |

Have just seen the 1861 census - what a lot of children, though Andrew looks to be aged 3, so not born in 1824!! (Though that is what it says on the index) The eldest child is 19, so likely marriage for parents about 1835-1840. There is this one on the IGI: JOSEPH HENRY EDWARDS Marriages: Spouse: MARY JANE PRIOR DODD Family Marriage: 06 MAY 1839 Saint Martin In The Fields, Westminster, London, England which fits, but you would need to get a birth cert for one of the children to see if this is the right marriage. The IGI is the International Genealogical Index. There are lots of threads explaining about it, so try typing ''IGI'' in the search box (I only type with two fingers!!) Sarah |

It's the transcript that is wrong - but who knows whether the census itself is correct or not? That's why you usually need more than one piece of evidence to prove things!! Sarah |

Samantha, seeing as you know that she married Joseph Henry Edwards, all you need do is look on the Free BMD for his name and when you should see Mary`s maiden name on the print out. I worked out for you from the 1871 Census I posted on your other thread that the children were born 1850, 1852, 1855, 1857 and 1863. Hope this helps, Elizabeth |
