Hi Sarah, Sorry I only just noticed your reply. Yep you're right about the John Bull I'd found in 1891. By Linda finding them in 1881, it just confirmed I had the right family in 1891, especially as it states Percy was born in Chester so it all fits! It's very strange how the birthplace wasn't filled in. It sounds likely that maybe the ennumerator did spill something on the form so that he couldn't read it. Other than that, the family wouldn't say as they were running away from something???? I'll never know I suppose. Also, how would a family travel from Checkley, Staffs to Chester in Cheshire around 1875? Helenx

And it proves you had the right John Bull in 1891 as Kate is on both census records!! I see John must have got a flour allergy by 1891 lol Perhaps in 1881 the enumerator had an accident with the household record form? Spilled his ink on it or something!! Or maybe he collected the form before it was fully completed? Sarah

Woo hoo!!!! T H A N K - Y O U - L I N D A! Sorry about the delayed response, I didn't expect a reply so quickly, let alone a result!!! I'm beaming! As the others have said, it is odd that there's no birth place for any of them. That was obviously why I was struggling. No problem for you though! Thanks a million, you're proof how wonderful people are on this site! Helen x

Well done, Linda! It certainly looks like the same set of names, in the right order. John Bull senr has changed from miller to stone-dresser (associated activities, I suppose). He's the only one given an occupation. As observed, looking at the images, there is absolutely no birth-place info for any of them. Christine

No birth places even hinted at, how odd! Jess

I can't find a family in 1881 and it's driving me mad! I'm hoping that someone on here could try please :) Here they are in 1871: Deadmansgreen, Checkley, Staffs John Bull, aged 28. Miller (born Checkley 1843) Ann Bull, aged 29. (born Stone 1842) Lucy A Bull, aged 5 (born Checkley 1866) Elizabeth Bull, aged 3 (born Checkley 1868) Harriet Bull, aged 2 (born Checkley 1869) William Bull, aged 11 months (born Checkley 1870) John Bull, aged under 1 month (born Checkley 1871) I believe Ann Bull died in 1887, aged 44 and John in 1897 aged 54. I think I could have possibly found John in 1891 but very unsure, which is why I am desperate to find them in 1881. Fingers and toes crossed for a miracle! Many Thanks Helen x
