Maria Maybe you could include a sample of the tree where this family fits - then they can see your interest? Elly

I was thinkin that Nell, eeeeeeek I'd hate them to think I was after anything. I have put in the letter that i'm just wondering if it is still the family business just so i know it is them, also just because i want to know my fathers family and thats all. not quite wored like that but i think i've made them see im just after family info. the stamped addressed envelope is a good idea though. thanks Nell :) Maria

Why should anyone take offence? The worst thing that can happen is that you don't get a reply, so I would include a stamped addressed envelope, and make it clear that I was only interested from a family point of view, or they might think you were wanting to claim a stake in the business! nell

I have been realy lucky in that I think I have found some of my grandmothers relatives. They used to have a funeral home and I have found that it still exists. I know it was passed down through the family at some point but it is now under another name with the origonal families name in brackets. I've written a letter to them as I think is it still within the family, who do i address in the letter? I have written to the relatives of ..... do you think this is ok, don't want to offend anyone.
