Started my dads side a few months ago only to find that one of the relatives had moved from Essex to sussex and lived and married right by where we had moved from 3 years ago. Wish had started that side a lot earlier.

I agree -how can people marry ,have 5 children and die without being born-beats me! Rosalyn

I would just like to know which county the man was born in. It's not much to ask. I can cope with his mother having multiple first names, a father away at war during the 1901 census, the parents' marriage being a complete mystery and even with them having the surname Thomas. But is there a single clue as to where he was born? Yes, actually: 'It might have an L in it'. That is not a clue!

Awww... Twinkle... Having a few extra problem ancestors? I know how you feel... :) Don't you wish you could sometimes go back and give them a good shaking... tell them to stay put and not keep changing their names unless they are female and getting married. Better still... make sure every eldest boy in every generation has the same name - with a middle name such as Englebert so as we know its definately them. It is frustrating - and you have my complete sympathy. I spent so much time finding out the very best places to search for ancestors in Sussex - thought it best to have a good base for searching through. Two generations later and I discover the b*ggers all originally came from Surrey! And I have found that Sussex is better-covered than Surrey in many respects. Still... we plod onwards and hope for the best :)

Beware low-flying ancestors with stupidly common names and itchy feet who refuse to be found. GRRR!
