There seems to be only one family nationwide with this name even up to today. I am looking for the name Skurls in the London area in all censuses other than the 1901 and 1881. All ages are unknown. 1841 – Ann Skurls – Hackney, London 1851 – Any in the Rotherhithe/St.Olave/Southwark area. Any in the Hackney/Stepney area 1861 – Joseph William - Rotherhithe 1871 – Any in the Rotherhithe/St. Olave/Southwark Many thanks Rita

Hi Rita Are these related to the Norfolk Scurls? Their most famous relation was Brettingham Scurl, a servant of Parson Woodford. They left a series of extremely helpful wills. All appear to be in Norfolk still by the 1790s, but other members of the family were moving into other counties and even down to London.

Hi all - Brenda - I have no idea. I only came across this name last week on receipt of a relative's marriage cert. It would be interesting to find out, tho'. Are the Scurls any relations of of yours? Rita ----------------------------------------------------------- Christine - Thanks for look-up. Keep looking! If there is any chance of any images I would grateful. I don't have William on 1891 as I always forget to ask for an 1891 look-up. If you have access could you send me images, thanks. RitaT
