I have been searching for ages for a marriage(still havn't found it) on Ancestry and 1837. After a few hours I realised they were all coming up with same Vol No. So I just entered the surname and the no and now they are all infront of me. Wonderfull. I have put this up for anyone new to this like me who really does not have a clue how to work these sites. Mags

Volume numbers refer to a broad geographic area. You can use them + surname and a set of dates to find likely relatives. nell

You might find something like this site useful - it gives the Districts with the places each includes, and it tells you which volume numbers apply... http://www.fhsc.org.uk/genuki/REG/index.htm Christine
