I've had this a few times recently. I'll be using the site OK then suddenly get the 'sign up' message when I go to look at details of a particular entry. Then when I click on 'log in' it immediately recognises me again without me actually having to enter login details so I guess its just a blip at their end.

normally you don't need to log in because it uses a cookie to remember who you are. If the cookie expires or gets deleted, you need to log in again. If you're logged in, your name appears at the top of the window. If you aren't, there's either a username/password box, or a link to the login page, in the top right-hand corner. Until you're logged in, it's got no idea who you are, so obviously it will treat you as a non-subscriber.

Thanks, Margaret and Bill. I've never had any issues before, and have been subscribed for over a year. Thought maybe it was a July Fool situation! I go straight to it as a favourite every time. Sue.

Hi Sue. This has happened to me before. It told me I had used up my quota and Im subscribed for a year.Have you got it in favourites?.When you are back put it in favourites and you shouldnt have anymore problems. If it doesnt come right contact support and complain. I see they are offering 20% off at present.About time they reduced the price.. Not enough on for North Yorkshire one of my main areas of interest Hope you get sorted. Margaret also in NZ.

ancestry*com Has anyone else had this problem? I'm a subscriber, but today it keeps telling me to sign up once I try to get past the initial index listing. I can't see the families or the original image. Is it a new system with teething probs? Sue (in NZ)
