Nell Thanks for advise. Not sure of mothers maiden name,and unable to make out what fathers profession is from marriage cert - looks like Gentre! I will do as you suggest and ring and see if can check. Sue |

Make sure you click on the Reference Checking option rather than just entering the father's name on the first screen. Lynne |

Sue I assume you are talking about the GRO. Please read carefully: if you just put the name of the person you want plus the GRO reference they will send the certificate. You do not need to give them any other details. As however, you have a choice of 3 possibles, you can ask them to check the father's name - you will be taken to a different screen for this. If the father's name is right, they will send the cert for £7. If its not right, they won't send the cert but they will deduct £3 for checking. I suggest that you ring them and say you want possibly 3 certs checked. If the names of the child and the father are fairly common though, it might be a problem. Could someone please advise me. if i order birth certifacates, and the fathers name doesn't match what i put down, will they still send them. I'm not sure if my gt grandfather is one of three people and wasn't sure if all i could do was send for them all or what to do. ( i know has fathers name from marriage cert) thanks. sue |
