Michelle, I don't think the 1851 Northants is available yet, the 1841 is available, but not thru S&N or anyone like that, well as far as I know. My friend has got the 1841, if you want I can find out the addy to purchase it, let me know. Sorry but don't know about Suffolk. Kim |

Michelle You might like to consider contacting the relevant local family history society. They often have transcriptions of parish records and censuses which you can get copies of for a few £. nell |

It's rumoured that Ancestry are going to be adding the 1851 and 1841 to their database ''soon''. Not sure when soon is, but, even if you don't have access to it, then you could ask for lookups on here. If you buy the CD's you could tell yourself that afterwards you will sell them on ebay, but you probably won't - what if another, as yet undiscovered, relly turned out to be on the same CD's, after you had got rid of them!!?? Depends on whether or not you will find your relatives there as opposed to how much it would cost you to go to a records office and look at the census there. Some census info I have found has been invaluable - I've had family members staying with other relatives which has given me new leads. But sometimes you get the barest details. 1841 census will only tell you whether or not a person was born in the county and list the people in the household without giving their relationship to the head. 1851 does give birthplace. But you might be unlucky - my gt gt grandfather William was definitely alive and as far as I can tell somewhere in Norfolk in 1841 and 1851 but no one has been able to find him!!! nell |

Cannot research parish records myself as I live too far away. Is it worth purchasing the cd's for the 1841 and 1851 census's for Northants and Suffolk. |
