Hi Has anyone got any suggestions about finding my GG Grandad he is called Thomas Hughes 1842 Wales on all the census, dont know how to find where in Wales regards June

do you know his wifes name?

If you can get his marriage certificate it should give you his age, occupation and address when they married and his father's name and occupation and then it should be easier to find him on the censuses. Kate.

Oh, but you might need his wife's maiden name before you can track down the registration of their marriage, so if you can get the birth certificate for one of their children first it will give you her maiden name.

Hi Kate, I Think i will after get my G Grandads birth cert as dont know mothers maiden name on, census says she is born Liverpool found one marriage in 1864 but now found 2 other marriages 1861 thank you June

Is Thomas junr the one recorded as Thomas Sylvester Hughes on Family Search? There are no Thomas Sylvester Hughes registered in Q3 or Q4 1865. Sorry! Or is he another one? Birth regastration wasn't compulsory then. There are lots of Thomas Hughes registered without a middle name in Q3/4 1865. It's going to be hard to find the right one. Sarah

June If you email/phone Liverpool Register Office, you have enough information for them to provide you with a certificate - same price as GRO and (possibly) quicker. Good luck Marjorie
