Snap! My rellie listed that ship as his address on his wedding certificate in 1877. Not sure what he was (so to speak!) but just think - our relatives rubbed shoulders. Can't really answer your query, but I'd love to get my hands on his service records, but with a name like William Wakeham (and him from a seafaring family) there might be several.

Lizzy if your relative was an officer you will be able to find his complete service record at Kew! We did this for a great uncle of my father - Dad had great fun finding out all his record. Anne

At Kew you can look at RN ships logs. I don't know what kind of info they give (on my to do list if I get the chance to visit again), but I love the fact that you can go and look at the original records. You probably already know, but they also have service records on microfilm - they were fascinating for the guy I looked up.

A rellie of mine was medical officer i the R.N. on the 'Royal Adelaide' which was in Devenport 1871 & 1881 can anyone help me trace this ship or give me any links to find out what type of ship it was and where it went? Many thanks Lizzy
