Hi everyone My grandad is 83 years old he wrote his life story. He began from his earlyest memory, different places they lived, childrens games, what school was like, differents job,his time in the air force till he came out and met my Nan. My Nan aready had my Mum who was 5 at the time, eveytime she met someone soon as she said about my Mum they didn't want to know. When he asked her out she said she had a 5 year old daughter and he said it didn't make any differents. He gave my mum his surname they have been married 68 yrs now.As for skeletons me and my sisters didn't know he was not her birth father until our Mum died 12 yrs ago. It just made us feel really proud to have him as our grandad. In case you wondered about her birth father she went out with him for 2yrs, when they told his family they said they would not allow him to bring disgrace on their family and that was that. How things have changed, I loved ready history. Good luck with your family history. Jane

I don't imagine there is a family anywhere that doesn't have a few skeletons. Anyone who says they haven't hasn't dug deep enough!! I wish one of my ancestors had thought to write a book about their life - it would be so wonderful to find. I envy you!! Kath. x

I emailed my aunt recently to find out if she knew any more detail about my g'parents than my mum, as my mum is the youngest of 8 children by quite a lot. She emailed back asking if was i sure i wanted to go ahead because she is sure there are lots of skeletons!! Of course this has now got me even more interested, but i dont want to cause anyone any harm in doing it. We dont live close so im going to carry on and just not mention anything that could be upsetting to anyone. now im getting quite excited to see what the birth certs ive ordered have said! and for an added bonus my nan wrote her life story in a book, which one of my aunts has and she is going to let me have a look!!
