Glamorous? Whitechapel & Stepney? Don't think so, dear! The East End starts here and it's full of crime, poverty and sordid goings-on. St Geo Southwark is probably equally seedy. But St Geo Hanover Square is very posh and famous for society weddings. Royalty tend to use their own private chapel at Windsor, or for big occasions Westminster Abbey/St Paul's. nell |

It sounded very glamorous, like royalty were baptised there. Thanks. Sue |

Susan ST GEORGE IN THE EAST St. George in the East is east of Whitechapel, between Stepney, Shadwell and Wapping. The church of St. George in the East with its 160 ft tower, was built in 1714-29 to the designs of Nicholas Hawksmoor, and created a seperate parish from Stepney. as opposed to St Geo Southwark & St Geo Hanover Sq. nell |
