Good evening all, Kate, Again many thanks for your help. The list of names turned out to be not quite as productive as I first thought, I'm still working on it though. Christine, Many thanks for your in-put. it is much appreciated. Unfortunately the Watts the Slade the Towells were a 'brainy' lot, they kept well clear of this family of mine!!. The Corps came to a dead end as well. (!!!). Never mind, a bit of progress has been made. Cheers to you all, Mick Davie.

Hi Michael Really glad we could help. Presumably you are able to pull the GRO's refs from Ancestry. If not just let me know. Happy Hunting Kate :)

Hi Have you found them on the censuses ok? The Hoopers show up on the 1861 census on Ancestry, for instance. Christine

Good Morning all, Kate in Notts, Many, many thanks for your sterling efforts and kindness in getting that lot up for me. You will be pleased to know that you have come up with a double result. We are referring to my paternal gt, gt, grandparents here. Of the four ' ' ' ' involved you have managed to put names of brides to two. William Hewitt, (sometimes spelt 'Hewett'), wed Mary Ann Corps; John Hooper wed Sarah Hewitt. Again, many thanks. A trip to Winchester PRO is in the offing to verify all that I found out yesterday. May I take this opportunity to thank all of you that help on this site, (and others). Your efforts are appreciated, greatly. Regards to you all, Mick Davie.

Thanks by the way Val, sorry I did not mean to be rude. Regards, Mick

Hi Kate, Tried going to bed but it's to hot and humid, so I made a cup of coffee and thought that I would just have a quick peek on here. Sorry about the mistake on the numbers. I have names and numbers rolling around my brain after a marathon 'family search' session on here. Thanks for the explanation. I dare say that I will 'get them' somehow. Thanks again, night, Regards, Mick.

Hi again Michael Just had a look at the image and it is Volume 7 Page 253 NOT 257. Did you make a typo - I know it was late when you entered it ;) Unfortunately it is still the only one on the page. You have two options. Either order the certificate and be dammed or Wait paitiently until some kind soul transcribes the matching entries. I'm a little surprised that there aren't already matching entries as FreeBMD coverage is pretty good now and there are usually at least 4 entries to a page. Kate :)

Padkat Report 24 Jun 2005 23:44

Hi Michael There are a couple of explanations. The BMD GRO references on Ancestry are borrowed from and the same as those on FreeBMD. It is possible that the matching pair to the reference has not yet been transcribed. The other possibility is that the volume or page number has been mis-transcribed and it thus stands alone. This info of course explains the reason but isn't a lot of help in your search, sorry. Kate. :)PS: Gonna go see if the image is available.

Hi all, I know that it's late but I have a bit of a puzzle here. I have just Looked for the marriage of John Hooper b circa 1820 to Sarah ?????? born circa 1824, at South Stoneham, Hampshire. What I got was John Hooper marriage 1839 June 1/4 Page 257 vol 7. But he is the only one on the page. Anybody have any ideas about this? The look-up was on Ancestry by the way. I hope that I have explained that ok. As I said it's late and I'm tired as I have been at this pooter since 9 am. I will look in tomorrow morning to see if anyone has come up with an earth shattering idea. Night all, Regards, Mick Davie.
