Thanks Sue, with a name like ambrose rosebrook there must be a connection, so just need to find out what iti is. i thought I recognised them all, but actually I have not found an ambrose so early - so could well be a step back in my tree. Thank you alice

Sue Are the marriages you found at St Mary the vigin Stansted Mountfitchet?? I reckon the ambrose is probably my Ambrose's father or possibly Grandfather - I wonder why I can't find my ambrose's birth in the same register? Alice

A glimmer of hope came when i found a Charles Rosebrook in London on the 1861 with one of Ambrose's sons lodging describes as Cousin. If you find any Rosebrooks in your searches in London/Essex/Surrey pre 1850's I would be really greatful to have the info. They are probably all related and maybe I will find a clue to crack Ambrose's birth. An unusual name , so I thought it may be worth a try.... Thanks for listening! alice
