Thanks Bill. I'm going to check the 'help' file on my version and see if it mentions these reports. Bonus if it does. Margaret

From the FTM 2005 help file..... **** Family Tree Maker creates three different types of Genealogy reports: Register (Descendant Ordered) — The Register format is a descendant-ordered format; it presents information about your family starting with an ancestor and moving forward in time to that individual's descendants. The Register format is the format which is accepted by the New England Historic Genealogical Society, one of the oldest genealogical societies in the country. The Register format dates back to 1870 and is used to establish 'pedigree.' NGS Quarterly (Descendant Ordered) — The NGS Quarterly format is also a descendant-ordered format; it presents information about your family starting with an ancestor and moving forward in time to that individual's descendants. The NGS Quarterly format is the preferred genealogical report of the National Genealogical Society. The format dates back to 1912. Ahnentafel (Ancestor Ordered) — The Ahnentafel format is ancestor-ordered; it starts with one individual and moves backward in time to that individual's ancestors. It's not used as frequently as the other two formats for formal presentations of pedigree because it records two family lines in the same report. **** Cheers, Bill Sydney, Australia

Thanks for the replies. Will have to go in and try and 're-order' the children. Elaine, the ahnentafel report - to me anyway - is the equivalent of the descendant report, but for ancestors. It starts with one person and lists their parents and siblings, the grandparents and their children, the ggreatparents and their children etc. (of course, all this information has to have been added before it can be in the report). Kind of like a 'pedigree chart' but with all the relatives instead of just the parents. Margaret

Elaine, there is a place for christenings. If you click on the 'edit' button next to the person in question, and then click on 'Add Fact', christening is one of the options. Baptism is also there. Sam x

Hi margaret Have the latest FTM, you can now rearrange the children by going an option named people which is on a toolbar at the top and sort from there, there is not an option for christenings so I have started to ref that under notes and putting it at the top. Afraid I don't know what ahnentafel means, can you tell me please Elaine

I have FTM issued in the late '90s. I like the one I have but have been thinking about upgrading. If so, it would have to be able to......(1)change the order of the children listed - oldest to youngest once they were all added (2)have place to list christenings if birth date unavailable (3) can do detailed ahnentafel as well as descendant reports. Are these available on FTM2005? Margaret
