Leanne - you can still search online at 1837 online even if you live in Scotland! It should work out cheaper than travelling to England, anyway. Kate.

If the child of the second marriage was born in Wales (or England) you can search the GRO birth indexes for the name, and it will give you the mother's maiden name. Then look for other children with surname Anderson and the same mother's maiden name in the same place. Of course, if her name was Smith and they lived in Cardiff you might get a few too many matches!! If you look through the GRO marriage indexes for his name (I think it will only give you his middle initial or initials rather than full middle name, though) and the mother's maiden name you got from the birth record as the spouse's surname, then you should find the marriage - if they got married in England or Wales. Then look up her surname in the marriage indexes, find the corresponding entry and it will give you her first name. (I'm not sure how you find a marriage in Scotland for that date, though, if they got married in Scotland.) You can look at the GRO indexes online at 1837 online but you have to pay, or maybe you can find somewhere that has the microfiches or microfilm of them to look at. Or if you are near London go to the Family Records Centre. Oh, and for his death you would have to search the GRO death indexes - again if he died in Wales or England. Kate.

Hi My ggrandfather Campbell Stephenson Anderson left Scotland and remarried and moved to Wales. I know of one child to his second wife and her name. I think she would've been born mid 1950's Where do I start with finding out when and who his second wife was? Also when he died? And how would I found out who his children to his second wife were? Many thanks Leanne x
