I've looked on Multi-map and there is no Wattiscombe. The nearest to it is Wattisham which is in Suffolk. Kath. x

Can't find a John Milton born in anyplace resembling this on familysearch. Had a look around Bristol but can't see anything like it there either. nell

Where there's a Down there's a Combe. There is a Wallisdown in Dorset, there are some Combes about but maybe Walliscombe ceased to exist?

Could it be Wiveliscome, Somerset. In the 1861 census there is a John Milton born there about 1807, but he has a wife called Maria. Kath. x p.s. There seems to be quite a few John Milton's born Wiveliscome over the years.

Are you sure it is a E as the second letter? If you google WEttiscombe it comes up with someone born in Bettiscombe in Dorset that was mistranscribed as Wettiscombe Deborah

I have a copy of the original census page for John Milton in 1851 and it's not much help at all lol The enumerator thinks the place of birth is in Gloucestershire, but the place name looks more like ''Walticombe''. If you would like a copy of the page, please message me direct quoting: ''John Milton, St Pauls Bristol Schedule 69'' Best of Luck! Sarah
