can someone tell me how to look at 1837, if I just know a name, is it just a matter of using up all credits, in all months and years before i actually 'may' have found a person, or am I doing it all wrong!

someone kindly sent me a marriage entry WILLIAM PRATT MARRIED MARY DAVIES 1875 JUNE QUARTER, BIRKENHEAD, CHESHIRE, I'm sure its the right one, but need to find more details, their child was also born in birkenhead, sarah ann pratt, havent found her but i have a copy of her death certificate, which said she died in 1957 aged 80, which means she was born around 1877, so looking realistically around 1857? sarah ann was born in Birkenhead and then moved to pwllheli, I have all the rest of the family to the present day have no other details of mary or william , as mary showed up in 1901 as being a widow,

That marriage is on the freebmd site with reference Birkenhead 8a 709, June Q 1875. You have all the information you need to be able to order a certificate to see whether or not they are 'your' couple.
